Statement by Libya at the Sixth Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other WMD

Libya emphasizes in its statement the advantages of the new working method that recently took effect to endorse the incoming presidencies earlier. This method has improved the efficiency of the conference and the Working Committee. 
The statement calls for negative security assurances, urging nuclear-weapon states to provide unconditional guarantees not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states in the region, mechanisms for cooperation and dispute settlement, and promoting cooperation between nuclear-weapon-free zones and the conference.
