Statement by the League of Arab States at the Sixth Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other WMD

The League of Arab States denounces in its statement  the threats made by senior Israeli officials to use nuclear weapons against Gaza and highlights the devastating impact of Israeli aggression on Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Qatar. The LAS urges the three co-sponsors of the 1995 resolution, especially the United States, to uphold their responsibilities, engage positively, pressure Israel to attend the conference and accede to the NPT, and place its nuclear facilities under the IAEA safeguards. The LAS calls for greater involvement of regional organizations, including the Arab League, in all substantive sessions of the conference.
