Statement by Kuwait on behalf of the GCC at the Sixth Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and other WMD

Kuwait, speaking on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council, welcomes the ceasefire plan in Gaza and underscores that the success of peacebuilding efforts highlights the need for a comprehensive security approach in the region, with the Zone as one of its pillars. The GCC underscores that regional security can only be achieved through collective cooperation, transparency, and compliance with international law. The GCC renews its condemnation of any statements by Israel or anyone else threatening the use of nuclear weapons. The statement reiterates the necessity of Israel’s accession to the NPT as a non-nuclear state and the submission of all nuclear facilities to comprehensive IAEA safeguards, framing these steps as indispensable for establishing the zone and regional security.
