The statement recognises the conference as a framework for regional dialogue. It acknowledges that concluding the treaty requires the participation of all parties, including Israel, stressing the importance of Israel joining the NPT as a non-nuclear weapon state as the first step in creating an ME WMDFZ. The statement emphasises the importance of focusing on verification mechanisms for nuclear disarmament, as well as the chemical and biological dimensions. It also calls for establishing mechanisms to preserve the right of member states to the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, such as the idea of creating a consortium for fuel production among countries with nuclear power plants. It encourages the conference to adopt coordinated positions by its members in other relevant forums. Iran welcomes the idea of hosting regional events to engage diverse military and civilian sectors and encourage voluntary contributions from any country in the region, thereby enhancing engagement and support in relevant sectors.Â
