Statement by Kuwait at the 4th Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and other WMD

The statement recalls Kuwait’s active engagement in the process and its role in adopting the conference’s rules and procedures and establishing the working committee. The statement emphasizes that clandestine and unsafeguarded nuclear activities in the region impede progress and undermine confidence-building efforts as well as regional security. The statement criticizes Israel for defying international law and relevant conventions. While Kuwait calls for the full participation of parties to the conference, it strongly rejects the participation and engagement with the current Israeli government on the grounds of committing war crimes and threatening the use of nuclear weapons in Gaza.
