Statement by Tunisia at the 1st Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other WMD

The statement expresses Tunisia's support of holding the conference aimed at creating a binding treaty to establish a ME WMDFZ in the region. The statement emphasised the need for Israel to join the NPT and subject its nuclear facilities to the  IAEA safeguards. It expresses its disappointment in the failure of the 2015 NPT conference, but it should not discourage the progress of the conference.
