Statement by Lebanon at the 2nd Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other WMD

The statement reiterates Lebanon's support for the establishment of the ME WMDFZ, for fostering security and stability in the region and the world. It notes Israel's absence from the conference as well as from other international nuclear forums, including the NPT, as unconstructive and a source of regional instability. Lebanon also notes the special responsibility of nuclear weapon states in particular the three depository states of the NPT in the establishment of a ME WMDFZ.
