Statement by Qatar at the 3rd Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other WMD

Qatar thanked the Kuwaiti presidency for putting into action its recommendations to form a Working Committee. The statement highlights Qatar's commitment to the process and has signed and ratified the NPT and other WMD-related treaties. It expressed disappointment with international promises the commitment that have not been fulfilled resulting in an imbalance of regional power dynamics. It states the countries of the region can no longer tolerate the failure of the international community to fulfil its obligations regarding an ME WMDFZ. The statement highlighted Qatar's commitment to achieving the ME WMDFZ by hosting in coordination with the LAS, the first Arab seminar on disarmament in September 2022 and aims to hold the seminal annually.
