Statement by Saudi Arabia at the 3rd Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other WMD

The statement emphasises Saudi Arabia's support for the UNGA-mandated conference and the establishment of an ME WMDFZ. The statement expressed the need for political will by all states in the region as well as sponsoring states. It emphasises Israel's nuclear facilities that are not under IAEA safeguards and Iran's undeclared nuclear activities as a serious security concern, allowing the IAEA to access and implement its safeguards in both states nuclear facilities is the first step n the process. The statement stresses the need for Israel's participation in the conference in order to address the complex technical issues of establishing the Zone and recommends more discussions with other established NWFZs.
