Statement by Lebanon at the 3rd Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other WMD

The statement by Lebanon emphasises its commitment to the establishment of an ME WMDFZ. The statement calls for the participation of all invited states, particularly nuclear weapons states in the conference. They urge countries in the region to reconsider their participation in the conference, as it aims to be inclusive and non-discriminatory. It stresses the importance of working towards a legally binding instrument for the zone based on consensus and encourages open, inclusive, and transparent discussions. The statement also expressed the disappointment with the inability to reach a consensus at the 2020 NPT RevCon.
