In a letter to the UN Secretary General, the LAS transmitted the Statement issued by at the LAS Council summit, held in Khartoum, Sudan, 28-29 Mar 2006, lamenting the failure of the 2005 NPT RevCon and emphasizing the need to make "the region of the Middle East into a zone free of weapons of mass destruction, above all
nuclear weapons".
