Russia proposes holding a conference to consider the prospects of implementation of the ME WMDFZ in a statement at the 2009 NPT PrepCom

The statement welcomed the idea of appointing a special coordinator to hold consultations on the ME WMDFZ and called on the regional states to taking certain confidence-building measures. It also noted the link between the ME WMDFZ and the Middle East peace process.
