Sixth Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction

The Sixth session of the Conference was held from 17 to 21 November 2025 at United Nations Headquarters, under the presidency of Morocco. 22 of 24 members of the Conference (except Israel and Comoros), and 4 of the P5 observer states (except the US) participated. The Conference held a thematic debate and exchanged views on the following topics: (a) negative security assurances; (b) cooperation, consultation, and clarification (3C) and dispute settlement; and (c) promotion of cooperation between nuclear-weapon-free zones and the Middle East Conference. The conference discussed proposals on the thematic topics, including the possibility of establishing a designated body under the future treaty to oversee 3C mechanisms and inviting nuclear-weapons states to provide their views on the NSA protocol. A report summarizing the discussions, decisions on the participation of the intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations , and the work of the working committee was adopted at the end of the Conference.
