UN Disarmament Commission recommends guidelines for the establishment of nuclear-weapon-free zones
The UNDC report recommended a set of principles and guidelines for nuclear-weapon-free zones, which included, inter alia, that their establishment should be on the basis of arrangements freely arrived at, emanating exclusively from states within the region concerned, and that nuclear weapon-free zones should not inhibit the use of nuclear science and technology for peaceful purposes.
